04 About Pikmin 2

Pikmin 2 is an action, adventure, and strategy game developed and published by Nintendo. Olimar returns to Hocotate to find his employer, Hocotate Freight, facing an enormous debt after Louie consumes a shipment of golden pikpik carrots.

Joined by Louie and the company President, Olimar travels to a mysterious planet in search of valuable objects. Every treasure recovered helps reduce the debt, turning the expedition into a mission to keep the company afloat.

Lead the Pikmin

Players command Olimar and Louie while directing groups of Pikmin through dangerous environments. The leaders can work together or divide responsibilities, allowing one group to battle enemies or handle obstacles while another carries treasure. Careful planning is important, since Pikmin are needed for combat, bridge building, transporting items, and solving environmental puzzles.

Five Pikmin types

The adventure uses five kinds of Pikmin, each suited to different tasks. Purple Pikmin are powerful heavy hitters, while White Pikmin can withstand poison and locate buried objects. Choosing the right companions for an enemy, puzzle, or hazard adds tactical depth to each expedition, and Candypop Buds can be used to change Pikmin types when circumstances demand it.

Surface areas and caves

Treasure hunting takes place across above-ground regions and multi-level underground caves. Caves remove the pressure of a daily time limit, giving players more freedom to investigate, confront enemies, and search for relics. Over 200 treasures can be collected, while sprays provide temporary advantages such as strengthening Pikmin or stunning opponents.
