Released for Nintendo Switch on December 10, 2019, Shovel Knight Showdown is an action-platform fighter from Yacht Club Games. It gathers heroes and villains from the Shovel Knight universe for arena-based contests built around movement, attacks, items, and stage dangers.

Rather than following a single traditional adventure, the game centers on a tournament in which its combatants seek victory for their own reasons. Character-focused Story content presents brief narratives behind their entries into the competition.

Platform Fighting Battles

Matches take place on interactive stages where hazards and changing elements can influence every encounter. Players use precise movement, attacks, defensive options, recovery moves, and character-specific special abilities to outmaneuver opponents. Items and power-ups can further alter the flow of a battle.

Roster and Modes

The roster includes 16 playable characters, each with distinct abilities and playstyles. Available modes include Story, Battle, Tournament, and Versus, offering both individual character stories and competitive match formats.

Local Competition

Shovel Knight Showdown supports local multiplayer for up to four players, with AI opponents also available. Customizable match rules allow battles to be tailored, while the varied fighters, item use, and stage layouts encourage experimentation with timing, positioning, and defensive play.
