04 About Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition
Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition is an action platformer from Moon Studios, published by Xbox Game Studios for Nintendo Switch. It follows Ori, a spirit guardian separated from Naru after a catastrophe leaves Nibel threatened by spreading blight.
Guided by Sein, a fragment of the Spirit Tree's light, Ori travels through the forest to restore its balance. The journey explores sacrifice, family, and destiny through visual storytelling and an orchestral score rather than spoken dialogue.
Explore the forest of Nibel
Nibel is built as a large interconnected world of caves, peaks, and concealed paths. Progress comes from investigating its environments, finding secrets and lore, and returning to earlier locations after gaining skills that open previously unreachable routes.
Platforming, combat, and abilities
Precision movement, environmental puzzles, and combat shape Ori's adventure. Spirit Tree powers expand Ori's mobility and fighting options, while Spirit Light can be used for upgrades. Encounters with corrupted creatures and demanding bosses require careful use of the abilities collected along the way.
Definitive Edition additions
This edition adds the Black Root Burrows area, new difficulty options, and challenge modes. Its added content also explores more of Naru and Kuro's backgrounds, extending the story surrounding Ori's effort to heal the forest.
Art and atmosphere
Hand-drawn artwork and animation bring Nibel's varied environments to life, supported by an emotional orchestral soundtrack. The presentation complements a journey that can be challenging while rewarding persistence, exploration, and mastery of Ori's movement tools.
