Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition is an action role-playing looter-shooter set across Pandora and other planets. Players become a new Vault Hunter working with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders against the Calypso Twins, Troy and Tyreen, whose Children of the Vault cult threatens the galaxy's Vaults.

The Ultimate Edition includes the main adventure along with its story add-ons. These expansions introduce further locations and scenarios, including a casino, a cosmic wedding, a prehistoric jungle, and an expedition into Krieg's mind.

Four Vault Hunters

Choose between Amara, FL4K, Moze, and Zane. Each Vault Hunter has distinct Action Skills, multiple skill trees, and augments that allow for different combat approaches. Character and vehicle cosmetics add further customization options.

Loot-driven combat

Missions combine rapid shooting, role-playing progression, boss encounters, vehicle travel, and randomized gear collection. Weapons can carry varied statistics and elemental effects, while enemy factions bring different behaviors and strengths to battles. Players can explore planets such as the urban areas of Promethea and the swamps of Eden-6 while searching for gear, chests, collectibles, and side missions.

Solo or cooperative play

The adventure supports single-player play as well as local and online cooperative sessions. Players can join friends for difficult encounters, with drop-in and drop-out co-op available during the campaign.
