Layers Of Fear 2 is an adventure game from Bloober Team, released for Nintendo Switch on May 20, 2021. It places players in the role of a Hollywood actor summoned to an ocean liner to take part in a film directed by an enigmatic, demanding figure.

As the actor moves through the ship, familiar spaces warp and change, merging performance, memory, and disturbing visions. The journey explores identity, trauma, self-perception, and the personal cost of pursuing artistic perfection.

A haunted production at sea

The ocean liner serves as the setting for a fragmented psychological story. Corridors and cabins reveal unsettling memories, ghostly appearances, mannequins, and clues connected to the actor’s past. Understanding the director’s motives and the nature of the role becomes central as reality grows increasingly uncertain.

Exploration and environmental storytelling

Gameplay emphasizes careful exploration, object interaction, and subtle puzzles. Details in the environment, along with visual and audio cues, help uncover pieces of the narrative. Rather than relying primarily on frequent jump scares, the game builds tension through shifting surroundings and a persistent sense of dread.

Observe every change

Progress can depend on noticing small alterations in the ship and examining the objects left behind. Looking closely at notes, revisiting areas, and paying attention to what appears behind or around the protagonist can reveal new details as the environment transforms.
