Contra : Operation Galuga is a 2024 action, arcade, and platformer release from Konami for Nintendo Switch. It reimagines the series’ familiar run-and-gun formula with modernized visuals, mechanics, and a renewed conflict against Red Falcon.

An alien invasion begins in the Galuga archipelago, placing Earth in danger once again. Contra commandos Bill Rizer and Lance Bean head into enemy territory to confront Red Falcon’s forces, battle through hazardous locations, and stop the organization’s plans.

Classic action, renewed

The game centers on rapid side-scrolling combat: moving through hostile stages, jumping over hazards, avoiding incoming fire, and collecting weapons while facing dense enemy forces. Its arsenal includes returning weapon types such as the Spread Shot, Laser Gun, and Machine Gun, with weapons able to be upgraded for greater firepower.

Overload abilities and characters

A new Overload system gives weapons special abilities that can be used for tactical moments, including clearing enemies or dealing heavy damage. Bill and Lance are joined by additional playable characters, each with their own abilities, offering different approaches to the action.

Bosses and cooperative play

Large, multi-stage boss encounters demand quick reactions and attention to attack patterns. Difficulty settings provide different levels of challenge, while local cooperative play supports up to four players for shared battles through environments ranging from jungles to alien bases.
