Road 96: Mile 0 is an action-platformer and narrative prequel set before the events of Road 96. It follows teenagers Kaito and Zoe in Petria, an authoritarian nation whose tensions and divisions shape both their friendship and their futures.

The pair live in White Sands, but come from very different circumstances: Kaito is from the slums, while Zoe has grown up with privilege. Their differing viewpoints frame a story concerned with friendship, rebellion, freedom, and the political forces surrounding them.

Two perspectives on Petria

Players alternate between Kaito and Zoe as their relationship develops. Dialogue and narrative decisions affect the direction of the plot and the characters' relationships, while also revealing more about Petria's past and the circumstances that precede the original game.

Narrative exploration and rhythm action

Story exploration is combined with stylized musical “trip” sequences. In these dreamlike sections, characters skate, ride, or fly across fantastical environments, with rhythm-action gameplay reflecting their emotions and internal conflicts.
