S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl places players in the hostile Chornobyl Exclusion Zone as an amnesiac scavenger called the Marked One. Bearing a mysterious tattoo and a single instruction to kill Strelok, he must pursue answers through a landscape scarred by disaster.

Released for Nintendo Switch on November 1, 2024, this action title from GSC Game World combines first-person combat, exploration, survival systems, and role-playing elements. The Zone is filled with competing factions, lethal anomalies, mutants, abandoned locations, and clues surrounding the Marked One’s past.

A dangerous journey through the Zone

The campaign follows the Marked One’s search for Strelok and the truth behind his identity. Along the way, players meet factions with conflicting aims, take on quests, and make decisions that affect their standing with the people of the Zone. Its setting blends science fiction, horror, and survival in an irradiated world where danger can emerge from both people and the environment.

Combat, scavenging, and survival

Encounters combine tactical shooting against human opponents with fights against mutated creatures. Supplies such as ammunition, medical items, food, water, and equipment are important resources, while injuries, bleeding, radiation, and hazards demand careful preparation. Players can search for artifacts within anomalies, use detectors to identify dangerous areas, and manage what they carry while exploring.

An evolving open world

From deserted villages and military checkpoints to underground laboratories, the Zone offers large areas to investigate for secrets, caches, and useful gear. The A-Life system allows mutants, NPCs, and factions to act independently, with creatures hunting and groups clashing throughout the world. This activity makes the environment feel unpredictable as events continue beyond the player’s immediate actions.
