NINJA GAIDEN 3: Razor’s Edge is an action-adventure from Koei Tecmo starring master ninja Ryu Hayabusa. Released for Nintendo Switch on June 10, 2021, it places Ryu at the center of an international crisis led by the Regent of the Mask.

Afflicted by the Grip of Murder, Ryu must face the physical and emotional consequences of his killings while pursuing those behind a global terror campaign. The story explores his struggle to break the curse and stop a threat that could determine humanity’s fate.

Fast, demanding ninja combat

Combat centers on fluid attacks, evasions, guarding, combos, finishing moves, and powerful Ninpo magic. Success depends on reading enemy behavior, choosing the right moments to strike, and using Ryu’s tools carefully against groups of dangerous opponents. The Karma system rewards skilled play with points for weapon upgrades, Ninpo improvements, and additional abilities.

Weapons and techniques

Ryu can use a varied arsenal that includes the Falcon’s Talons, Lunar Staff, and Scythe, each supporting a different approach to battle. Charged Ultimate Techniques offer major area attacks, while Obliteration Techniques provide forceful finishing blows against weakened enemies. The enhanced dismemberment system can leave foes vulnerable to critical attacks.

Additional characters and challenges

Ayane, Momiji, and Kasumi are playable in their own story segments, each bringing a distinct fighting style. Trials and Ninja Tests provide further combat-focused challenges outside the main narrative, while hidden scarabs and crystal skulls offer rewards to players who explore the stages.
