Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition is a role-playing game from BANDAI NAMCO, released for Nintendo Switch in 2019. This edition presents the adventure with enhanced visuals and previously released DLC.

The story takes place in a world dependent on blastia, ancient technology used throughout society. Former Imperial Knight Yuri Lowell begins by pursuing a stolen blastia core from his district, but his search grows into a journey involving Estelle, the Guilds, the Imperial Knights, and a threat to the world’s balance.

Justice and responsibility

Yuri and his companions encounter a conspiracy connected to powerful institutions and ancient forces. The narrative explores justice, social order, and personal responsibility as the group faces difficult questions about what is right and wrong. Each member of the party contributes to the wider journey through their own character arc.

Linear Motion Battle System

Combat uses the real-time Linear Motion Battle System. Players directly control one party member while the remaining allies are handled by AI, with the ability to move across a 3D battlefield. Battles combine regular attacks, artes, spells, mystic artes, and Over Limit attacks. Switching characters and recognizing elemental weaknesses add tactical options during difficult encounters.

Exploration and progression

Outside battle, the adventure includes varied environments, NPC interactions, hidden areas, side quests, and a world map connecting different regions. Equipment can be collected and upgraded to improve character statistics, while recipes provide temporary battle benefits. Optional events and quests offer additional rewards and lore.
