MudRunner – American Wilds is a simulation game built around navigating rugged American wilderness in heavy-duty off-road vehicles. Rather than following a traditional character-driven story, it centers on demanding jobs and the challenges created by mud, water, forests, and uneven ground.

Players take on deliveries, vehicle recoveries, and exploration across open maps. Progress comes from selecting suitable trucks, planning routes, and adapting to changing terrain conditions.

Terrain and vehicle handling

The driving simulation emphasizes the weight and handling of each vehicle. Mud, rivers, rocky slopes, suspension, fuel use, and damage can all affect a journey, making careful driving more important than speed. Differential locks and all-wheel drive can provide extra traction when routes become especially difficult.

Vehicles and objectives

The game includes 30 off-road vehicles, ranging from lighter scouting trucks to heavy logging vehicles. Different attachments and vehicle characteristics encourage players to choose equipment that fits the task, whether hauling logs, crossing difficult ground, or helping a stranded truck.

Planning a route

Scouting is an important part of tackling each map. A lighter vehicle can help identify safer crossings, firmer paths, and possible hazards before a larger truck commits to a route. The winch is a key recovery tool, allowing vehicles to pull themselves free or assist others by attaching to strong anchor points.

Cooperative challenges

MudRunner – American Wilds also supports cooperative multiplayer for up to four players. Teams can work together on difficult terrain, share recovery duties, and approach demanding objectives with multiple vehicles.
