The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is an action-adventure remake for Nintendo Switch, developed and published by Nintendo. Link is stranded on Koholint Island after a violent storm and begins searching for a way home.

His escape depends on awakening the Wind Fish, a sleeping being tied to the island’s fate. To do so, Link must locate eight instruments hidden across Koholint’s dungeons, while uncovering the unsettling truth behind the island and its inhabitants.

Koholint Island

Koholint is a varied island of beaches, forests, mountains, dungeons, and secret-filled routes. Link encounters unusual residents and surreal events as his journey moves between exploration, conversations, and the search for new tools. The story considers reality, sacrifice, and what it means to preserve a world that may be only a dream.

Classic Adventure Gameplay

The adventure uses a top-down view focused on exploration, combat, and item-driven puzzles. Link can use equipment including his sword, shield, Roc’s Feather, Hookshot, and Pegasus Boots to fight monsters, cross obstacles, and open previously unreachable areas. Dungeons feature distinct themes, bosses, and puzzles that require careful use of acquired items.

Remade Presentation and Extras

This version presents Koholint with a colorful, diorama-like visual style and orchestral music. Streamlined item management updates the original adventure’s structure, while Secret Seashells, trading items, and hidden passages reward thorough exploration. The Chamber Dungeon feature allows players to arrange dungeon rooms into custom challenges.
