Dying Light: Platinum Edition is a first-person action role-playing game set in Harran, a city under quarantine and overrun by infected. Players control Kyle Crane, an undercover GRE operative sent to recover a sensitive file from rogue agent Kadir Suleiman.

After being bitten shortly after arriving, Crane is rescued by survivors living in the Tower. As he confronts infected, hostile factions, and the threat of nocturnal Volatiles, his original assignment becomes increasingly entangled with the fate of Harran’s residents.

Movement and survival

Traversal centers on first-person parkour, allowing Crane to climb, vault, slide, and move across Harran’s rooftops and obstacles. Combat combines improvised melee weapons, ranged weapons, environmental traps, and resource management. Materials can be scavenged to create weapons, medical kits, and other useful tools, while skill progression improves Agility, Power, and Survival abilities.

Danger after dark

The day-night cycle changes the risks across the city. Daylight provides time to scavenge and pursue missions, while nighttime brings more dangerous infected, including Volatiles. Weapon durability, stamina, noise, and positioning all affect how encounters unfold, making escape and use of the environment important options.

Platinum Edition content

This edition includes content released for the game, including The Following expansion. In that expansion, Crane investigates a mysterious cult beyond Harran, with a countryside setting where a customizable buggy can be driven and upgraded. The game also supports cooperative play for up to four players.
