04 About Cris Tales

Cris Tales is an action-adventure role-playing game developed by Dreams Uncorporated and published by Modus Games. Released for Nintendo Switch on July 20, 2021, it combines classic turn-based RPG ideas with time-based abilities.

Players follow Crisbell, an orphan who awakens to powerful time magic and can witness the past, present, and future at once. As a threat to the kingdoms of Crystallis grows, she travels with a group of allies to oppose the Empress and restore balance to the timeline.

Time at the Center of Combat

Battles use turn-based systems built around Crisbell's ability to affect enemies through time. Opponents can be sent toward the past or future to change their condition, while party abilities can be combined with time magic for tactical attacks and defensive planning. Timing attacks and blocks also plays a role during encounters.

Exploration Across Crystallis

Time manipulation is also used beyond combat. Crisbell can interact with different states of the world to work through obstacles, find hidden routes, and solve environmental puzzles. The journey moves through hand-drawn locations including cities and ancient ruins.

Allies and Choices

Crisbell is joined by allies with distinct skills and personal backstories. Their abilities support the party in combat, while the adventure includes decisions that influence the narrative and the future of Crystallis.
