Dragon Star Varnir is an RPG, action, and adventure title developed and published by Idea Factory for Nintendo Switch. Set in a world where witches are cursed to give birth to dragons, it follows the knight Zephy after he becomes afflicted by that same curse.

Forced to live alongside the witches he once hunted, Zephy encounters the Reapers pursuing them and investigates the origins of the curse tied to the colossal dragon surrounding their world. The narrative focuses on survival, sacrifice, morality, and decisions that influence companions and story paths.

Three-Tiered Battles

Combat uses a turn-based system built around three vertical positions: ground, mid-air, and high-air. Attack effectiveness depends on elevation, encouraging players to alter positions and target elemental weaknesses. Party abilities and equipment can be managed to suit different encounters.

Dragon Powers and Devouring

Characters can use Dragon Awakening to assume dragon forms, gaining increased power and powerful attacks. Fallen dragons may also be devoured to obtain skills, equipment, and stat improvements. Choosing when to transform and which dragons to devour is central to preparing the party for difficult fights.

Exploration and Choices

Dungeons contain enemies, puzzles, secrets, and hidden resources to discover. Beyond battle, players can experiment with party setups, pursue bounties and side quests, and manage the witches' Madness gauge. Story decisions can lead to different narrative branches and endings.
