The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero is a role-playing game set in the city-state of Crossbell. Lloyd Bannings returns to his hometown as a rookie detective and joins the newly formed Special Support Section of the Crossbell Police Department.

Alongside Elie MacDowell, Randy Orlando, and Tio Plato, Lloyd investigates unusual requests that gradually expose organized crime, political pressure, corporate corruption, and threats to Crossbell's fragile stability between Erebonia and Calvard.

Crossbell and the Special Support Section

The story follows a group initially assigned to smaller incidents, but their work leads them into a wider conspiracy. Crossbell is central to the experience, with its residents, districts, and shifting dialogue helping reveal more about the city and its tensions.

Tactical turn-based battles

Combat uses the series' Action Time battle system, where turn order and character placement can influence each encounter. Players can use Arts and character-specific Crafts, target enemy weaknesses, and adjust their approach through Orbment-based customization.

Activities beyond combat

Exploration includes side quests, conversations with non-player characters, and opportunities to learn additional lore or earn items. The game also features cooking for temporary stat boosts, fishing, and bonding events with party members.
