The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an RPG developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. Set in the land of Skyrim, it places players in the role of the Dragonborn, a figure able to absorb dragon souls and use powerful shouts.

The central conflict concerns Alduin, the World-Eater, whose return threatens Tamriel. After escaping an execution, the Dragonborn must uncover their destiny while deciding how to engage with Skyrim’s dragon crisis, political conflict, and many independent questlines.

A Land Shaped by Choice

Skyrim’s open world includes snowy mountains, forests, cities, ruins, dungeons, and hidden locations. Players can follow the main story or pursue side quests, meet local characters, and explore at their own pace. The civil war between the Imperial Legion and Stormcloaks offers another major storyline, with choices that affect Skyrim’s political future.

Combat and Character Growth

Character creation includes selecting an appearance, race, and abilities. Combat can combine weapons, shields, magic, archery, stealth, and dragon shouts, allowing different approaches to enemies. Skills improve through use, supporting flexible development instead of a fixed class path. Materials gathered during exploration can also be used to craft armor, weapons, potions, and other equipment.

Factions and Life in Skyrim

Faction questlines include the Companions, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, and College of Winterhold, each bringing distinct characters and objectives. Players can recruit followers, acquire a home, adopt a family, and use Hearthfire content to build a homestead.
