Commandos 3 – HD Remaster is an action-strategy title set during World War II. This Nintendo Switch release revisits the tactical stealth gameplay of Commandos 3 with updated visuals and refined controls.

Players command a six-person Allied unit across dangerous operations in Europe. Careful observation, deliberate planning, and coordinated use of each specialist’s abilities are central to completing objectives while avoiding enemy alarms.

Three wartime campaigns

The game is structured around campaigns in Stalingrad, Central Europe, and Normandy during the D-Day landings. Missions involve objectives such as sabotage, prisoner rescues, and eliminating important enemy figures, placing the squad in heavily defended territory.

A specialized commandos team

Each commando brings a distinct role to the operation. Jack “Butcher” O’Hara, the Green Beret, handles close combat and heavy objects; sniper Sir Francis T. Woolridge targets distant threats; and sapper Thomas “Inferno” Hancock uses explosives. The Marine, James “Fins” Blackwood, is suited to water-based situations and knife work, while spy René “Frenchy” Duchamp can impersonate enemy officers. Driver Samuel “Brooklyn” Willis operates vehicles and heavy weaponry.

Stealth and tactical planning

Success depends on scouting patrol routes, choosing concealed paths, and using the environment for cover. Shadows, bushes, and buildings can help the team remain unseen, while limited ammunition, medical kits, and other supplies call for measured decisions. Combining commandos’ skills can create openings against guarded positions.
