The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel IV

04 About The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel IV

The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel IV is an adventure RPG with action elements for Nintendo Switch. Released in the USA on April 9, 2021, it was developed and published by NIS America and is presented in English.

This installment concludes the Erebonian arc. With the Great Twilight throwing Erebonia into turmoil and Rean Schwarzer missing, Class VII joins allies from Crossbell and Liberl to oppose a conspiracy involving Ouroboros and prevent a continent-wide war.

A continent in crisis

The story brings together political conflict, ancient curses, personal sacrifices, and the intertwined journeys of its characters. The Imperial Army poses a growing threat, while the group’s search for Rean becomes central to restoring hope and pursuing peace for Erebonia.

Tactical party battles

Combat uses a refined tactical turn-based system built around party composition, positioning, and character synergy. The ARCUS II battle orbment system supports customization through quartz, while Link Attacks, Brave Orders, Orders, Break mechanics, and cinematic S-Crafts add strategic options during encounters.

Exploration and character bonds

Outside battle, players explore broad environments, seek side quests and hidden items, and take part in bonding events with companions. These events develop relationships and can unlock Link Abilities and other benefits. Optional activities include Vantage Master and Pom-Pom Party.
