The Caligula Effect 2 is an action role-playing game developed by FuRyu and published by NIS America. Released for Nintendo Switch on June 24, 2021, it follows students who begin to question the seemingly perfect virtual world they inhabit.

Redo offers its residents idealized high school lives, created under the guidance of the virtual idol Regret. When the protagonist and several classmates learn that this world is a prison separating them from reality, they join the Go-Home Club in an attempt to return home.

A World Built on Regret

The group receives help from another virtual idol, χ (Chi), but must face Regret's Obbligato Musicians along the way. The story centers on regret, avoidance, personal trauma, and self-acceptance as each member confronts the desires and struggles behind their Catharsis Effect.

Strategic Battles

Combat uses a turn-based system with action-focused timing and planning. The Imaginary Chain lets players anticipate enemy behavior and arrange attack sequences before acting, while party members can be switched to pursue advantageous tactics. Catharsis Effects can provide powerful options during difficult encounters.

Characters and Customization

Exploring Redo's school settings involves meeting students, finding clues, and discovering additional stories. Character episodes and relationships with Go-Home Club members reveal more about the cast while unlocking skills. Stigmas can be collected and equipped to alter character statistics and abilities.
