Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition is an action, adventure, and platforming game developed and published by WayForward. Set across colorful fantasy locations, it follows the half-genie hero as she combines agile platforming, combat, exploration, and magic to stop a new threat.

The adventure begins when Shantae helps her uncle Mimic gather components for an invention intended to defend Scuttle Town. Her search for ancient relics puts her against the pirate queen Risky Boots, while friends including Bolo, Sky, and Rottytops join the journey.

Platforming and transformations

Shantae fights with her signature hair-whip attack and uses belly-dancing magic to transform into animal forms. Each form offers different movement, combat, and traversal abilities, allowing her to overcome hazards, reach new routes, and solve environmental obstacles throughout interconnected stages.

Exploration and upgrades

Levels contain secrets, collectibles, hidden items, and boss encounters. New transformations encourage revisiting earlier areas to access missed paths. Shantae can also obtain magic spells and upgrades that expand her combat options and utility as the adventure progresses.

Ultimate Edition content

This edition includes all previously released DLC alongside the main campaign. Additional content lets players experience storylines centered on Risky Boots and Shantae's friends, while costume modes provide alternate ways to approach the game's familiar stages and challenges.
