XIII is an action-adventure first-person shooter developed and published by Microids for Nintendo Switch. Released on September 13, 2022, it uses a cel-shaded comic-book presentation, with on-screen sound effects such as “BOOM!” and “THWACK!” accompanying combat.

The game begins with an injured amnesiac awakening on a beach. Marked by a XIII tattoo and carrying only a key as a clue, he becomes the prime suspect in President Sheridan’s assassination and must uncover his past while investigating a wider conspiracy.

A conspiracy and a lost identity

The search for the truth leads to the shadowy organization known as The XX. As the protagonist follows fragments of his memory, he encounters characters whose loyalties are uncertain, uncovering revelations tied both to his identity and to a threat against the nation.

First-person action with tactical options

Combat takes place across varied environments and uses an arsenal ranging from pistols to rocket launchers. Direct firefights are central to the experience, but many encounters also allow stealth, including silent takedowns and avoiding patrols. Health packs and armor help sustain the player through difficult situations.

Exploration and progression

XIII combines shooting with environmental puzzles and exploration. Hidden routes, useful items, and weapon upgrades can be found throughout the game, while a grappling hook supports vertical movement and access to elevated or otherwise unreachable areas. A compass helps track objectives and enemy positions.
