Call of Cthulhu is a role-playing mystery steeped in cosmic and psychological horror. Developed by Cyanide and Saber3D and published by Focus Home Interactive, it follows private investigator Edward Pierce in 1924.

Pierce is sent from Boston to Darkwater Island to examine the unexplained death of the Hawkins family. His search draws him into a place marked by old secrets, guarded residents, cult activity, and disturbing forces beyond ordinary understanding.

An Investigation into Darkwater

The story centers on uncovering what happened to the Hawkins family while navigating an island reluctant to reveal its past. As evidence accumulates, the boundary between reality and delusion becomes increasingly uncertain, placing Pierce's mental condition at the heart of the case.

Choices, Clues, and Skills

Gameplay emphasizes exploration, conversations, clue gathering, and difficult decisions rather than direct combat. Players inspect environments and crime scenes, read documents, and assemble fragmented information. Dialogue decisions can influence the narrative and relationships, while skill points may be assigned to abilities including Investigation, Psychology, Spot Hidden, and Strength to open additional options or solutions.

Sanity and Stealth

Encountering unsettling events and failing certain checks can damage Pierce's sanity, bringing visual distortions and unreliable perceptions. Some situations also require stealth, asking players to avoid dangerous cultists or creatures instead of confronting them directly. The experience focuses on careful observation, tense discovery, and Lovecraftian dread.
