04 About Pokken Tournament DX

Pokkén Tournament DX is an action fighting game developed by Bandai Namco and published by Nintendo for Nintendo Switch. Released on September 22, 2017, it places Pokémon in direct, move-driven battles rather than turn-based encounters.

The game is set in the Ferrum Region, where Trainers and Pokémon are linked through Synergy Stones. Guided by Nia, players enter the Ferrum League while investigating the threat posed by the mysterious Shadow Mewtwo.

Two Styles of Battle

Matches alternate between Field Phase and Duel Phase. Field Phase allows free movement around a 3D arena, with room for projectiles and positioning. Duel Phase shifts the action into a more traditional side-on fighting format centered on combos, grabs, counters, and close-range pressure. Attacks can trigger changes between these phases, making momentum and adaptation important.

Pokémon, Support Sets, and Synergy

The roster includes more than 20 Pokémon, such as Pikachu, Charizard, and Decidueye, with each fighter using a distinct style and moveset. Support Pokémon pairs can be called during battles to provide offensive help or healing. Synergy Burst temporarily strengthens a fighter and grants access to a powerful Burst Attack.

Ferrum League and Battle Options

Ferrum League provides a single-player route through the region's competitive battles and its Shadow Mewtwo storyline. The game also includes local and online multiplayer matches, along with team battles. Its HD presentation emphasizes animated Pokémon attacks and detailed combat effects.
