New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe brings classic side-scrolling platform action to Nintendo Switch. After Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach from her castle, Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Nabbit set out across the Mushroom Kingdom to stop him.

The journey moves through locations including Acorn Plains, Layer-Cake Desert, and Frosted Glacier. Each world presents its own obstacles, enemies, and a confrontation with one of Bowser's Koopalings before the final battle at Bowser's Castle.

Platforming and power-ups

Players run, jump, stomp enemies, and search levels for Star Coins, secret exits, and warp pipes that reveal additional paths on the world map. Power-ups include the Super Acorn, which creates Flying Squirrel Mario for gliding and temporary flight, and the Ice Flower, which freezes enemies with ice balls.

Playable characters

The Deluxe version includes Nabbit and Toadette alongside Mario, Luigi, and Toad. Nabbit is not harmed by enemies, while Toadette can use the Super Crown to become Peachette, gaining a floating jump and another chance after falling.

Challenges together or solo

Up to four players can tackle stages at once, working together while navigating the shared screen. Fallen players can return when teammates touch their bubbles. Challenge Mode adds focused tasks such as time-limited coin collection or clearing a stage without touching the ground.
