Bramble: The Mountain King

04 About Bramble: The Mountain King

Bramble: The Mountain King is an adventure game from Merge Games, released for Nintendo Switch on April 27, 2023. It follows Olle, a young boy who enters the mythical land of Bramble after his sister Lille is taken by a mysterious creature.

The journey combines the beauty of Nordic folklore with a darker, threatening atmosphere. As Olle presses onward, he encounters fabled beings, unsettling landscapes, and the harsh truths hidden beneath this fantastical world.

A rescue through Bramble

Olle’s search for Lille leads through forests, swamps, and mountains inhabited by creatures drawn from Nordic tales. Some figures offer uncertain guidance, while others stand in his way. The story explores fear, loss, courage, and a young boy’s struggle to save his sister.

Exploration, puzzles, and danger

Olle is vulnerable, so progress often depends on observation, timing, and using the environment rather than direct confrontation. Players explore detailed locations, solve environmental puzzles, and navigate stealth-focused encounters with dangerous creatures.

Folklore-inspired encounters

The world’s monstrous inhabitants bring distinct challenges, including encounters that call for careful evasion or a specific strategy. Hidden areas and collectibles provide additional lore, while visual and sound cues can help reveal safe routes, puzzle solutions, and enemy patterns.

Languages and release details

Bramble: The Mountain King supports English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish. It was developed and published by Merge Games and released across Europe, the USA, and Japan.
