Eastern Exorcist

04 About Eastern Exorcist

Eastern Exorcist is a Nintendo Switch action RPG and platformer set in a somber realm overrun by monstrous creatures and malevolent spirits. Its hand-drawn visual style presents a world inspired by traditional Chinese folklore.

Players follow Lu Yunchuan, an exorcist burdened by a past failure, as he travels through dangerous lands to purge evil forces and investigate ancient conspiracies. The journey explores themes of redemption, sacrifice, and resistance against darkness.

Precision-focused combat

Combat centers on fast 2D encounters that reward timing, observation, and careful positioning. Lu Yunchuan can use weapons and exorcism abilities, while parries and dodges are important tools for surviving aggressive enemies. Boss battles require players to recognize attack patterns and identify openings.

Growth and exploration

Resources collected during the adventure can be used to improve the character and strengthen abilities. A skill tree allows different approaches to combat, while weapon upgrades support continued progression. Environments contain dangers, hidden items, lore, side quests, altars, and shrines that can aid exploration.

Languages and release

Published and developed by BILIBILI HK, Eastern Exorcist released on June 8, 2023. It supports English, Japanese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese, with availability listed for Europe, the USA, Asia, and Japan.
