4 The Elements is an action and puzzle game from Mito Games, released for Nintendo Switch on July 18, 2024. It follows Elara, an elemental guardian tasked with restoring order to Aerthos after its ancient shrines fall dormant and the forces of nature become unstable.

Elara travels through hazardous regions to reactivate shrines, face corrupted elemental spirits, and uncover secrets tied to the coming catastrophe and her own lineage. The game combines environmental problem-solving, platforming, exploration, and light combat.

Four elemental forms

Progress depends on changing between fire, water, earth, and air forms. Fire can melt obstacles and attack, water can float and douse flames, earth provides defensive and lifting options, and air supports gliding and pushing. Puzzles ask players to consider how these abilities interact with the surroundings and with one another.

Puzzles and exploration

Levels include traps, elemental mechanisms, hidden routes, and optional challenges. Volcanic caverns and watery plains are among the biomes Elara must cross. Hidden glyphs, relics, lore fragments, and upgrades reward careful exploration, while later abilities can open routes that were previously inaccessible.

Alongside puzzle sequences, Elara encounters elemental adversaries and corrupted creatures. Switching forms at the right moment can help with both defense and movement, especially during complex platforming sections.
