Against the Storm is a strategy and simulation game set in a world repeatedly devastated by the Blightstorm. As the Scorched Queen’s Viceroy, you venture beyond the safety of the Smoldering City to establish settlements in the wilderness, gather resources, and uncover ancient secrets.

Each outpost is part of a larger effort to strengthen humanity’s last refuge. Completed settlements provide resources and lasting improvements for future expeditions, while the search for ancient seals supports the struggle to hold back the storm.

City Building Across Changing Lands

Every settlement begins on a procedurally generated map with its own biome, resources, and threats. Build housing, production facilities, and services while developing an economy capable of supporting a growing community. Food, lumber, stone, and specialized goods all play a role in keeping an outpost functioning.

Villagers, Exploration, and Hostility

Different villager species bring individual needs and bonuses, making morale and job assignments important considerations. Forest glades can reveal useful resource sites and opportunities, but they may also contain dangerous events. The Blightstorm’s influence raises the pressure, requiring careful management of hostility, resolve, and available supplies.

Roguelite Progression

New expeditions demand flexible planning as conditions, royal orders, and settlement goals change from map to map. Trading with merchants, fulfilling requests, and completing orders can provide needed rewards. Progress earned from successful settlements feeds back into the Smoldering City through permanent upgrades and bonuses for later challenges.
