04 About ASTRAL CHAIN

Released for Nintendo Switch on August 30, 2019, ASTRAL CHAIN is an action game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo. It takes place in the Ark, a futuristic city threatened by interdimensional gates and the monstrous Chimeras emerging from them.

Players join Neuron, a special police unit, as one of two siblings able to command a Legion: a sentient bio-weapon linked to its officer by a chain. The investigation into the invasions brings the fate of the city, hidden conspiracies, and the origins of the Chimeras into focus.

Officer and Legion combat

Combat centers on controlling both the officer and a Legion at once. Their connection supports coordinated attacks, combo opportunities, and tactical movement. The chain itself can bind enemies, form tripwires, and help redirect attacks, giving encounters a strategic element beyond direct offense.

Five Legion types

Five Legion forms are available: Sword, Arrow, Beast, Arm, and Axe. Each has different skills for battle and environmental interaction, encouraging players to switch between them according to the situation. Cooperative sync attacks provide especially powerful combined moves.

Investigations and progression

ASTRAL CHAIN also includes investigation sequences in which players explore crime scenes, collect clues, and use Legion abilities to uncover information. Officers can change outfits, while Legions can receive ability upgrades and stat improvements as the game progresses.
