Biomutant is a Nintendo Switch action RPG published by THQ Nordic. Set in a colorful post-apocalyptic world, it follows a customizable warrior searching for answers about their past while the Tree-of-Life faces destruction from toxic oil and five Worldeaters.

The journey combines personal discovery with a crisis affecting the entire world. Conflicting tribes hold different visions for the Tree-of-Life, and the player’s decisions can affect alliances, relationships, and the outcome of the story.

Combat and character building

Combat uses the Wung-Fu system, mixing martial arts, close-range weapons, firearms, and mutant powers. Players can shape their character through breed, class, statistics, abilities, and mutations, encouraging different approaches to encounters.

Crafting and exploration

A broad world of distinct biomes offers environmental hazards, optional activities, hidden items, and traversal vehicles. Salvaged materials can be used to assemble and improve weapons and armor, while hazardous areas may require specialized gear to explore safely.

Choices and the Aura system

An Aura system records light and dark actions, influencing how characters react and opening particular abilities. Decisions made across the adventure affect tribal connections and help determine the Tree-of-Life’s fate, with multiple possible endings.
