Blasphemous

04 About Blasphemous

Blasphemous is an action-adventure released for Nintendo Switch on September 19, 2019. It follows The Penitent One, a silent warrior marked by a thorned helmet, through Cvstodia, a land devastated by a divine force called The Miracle.

The journey is shaped by grim environments, unsettling characters, and fragments of lore found across the world. Its narrative reveals Cvstodia’s suffering through cryptic dialogue, locations, and confrontations with grotesque foes.

Exploration and combat

Cvstodia is a sprawling interconnected world with hidden routes, secrets, platforming challenges, and areas that can be revisited as new abilities are obtained. Combat centers on careful timing: The Penitent One uses the Mea Culpa sword while relying on attacks, dodges, and parries against dangerous enemies and major bosses.

Prayers, relics, and Guilt

Progression includes weapon and ability upgrades, along with prayers and relics that expand the player’s options. Death leaves behind a Guilt fragment and reduces the maximum Fervor gauge, making recovery of that fragment an important part of returning to the journey.

Release details
