Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a gothic platformer developed by ArtPlay and published by 505 Games. Released for Nintendo Switch on June 25, 2019, it follows Miriam as she explores a dangerous, interconnected castle overrun by demons.

Miriam is an orphan suffering from an alchemist's curse that slowly crystallizes her body. After awakening from a ten-year coma, she enters the castle to confront Gebel, an old friend afflicted by the same curse, while uncovering the reasons behind the experiments and demonic invasion.

Explore the castle

The adventure takes place across a large non-linear castle filled with hidden routes, secrets, enemies, and formidable bosses. Progress depends on discovering new paths and gaining abilities that open areas previously out of reach.

Shards and combat

Defeated demons can leave behind shards for Miriam to absorb. These grant magical attacks, passive effects, and transformations, allowing different approaches to combat. Weapon choices, armor, accessories, and shard loadouts can be adjusted to suit a preferred fighting style.

Crafting and cooking

Materials collected during exploration can be used to create and improve equipment. Cooking provides meals with temporary benefits, which can be useful when preparing for difficult encounters. Managing magic, healing items, and equipment is part of surviving deeper sections of the castle.
