04 About Chained Echoes

Chained Echoes is an action, adventure, role-playing, and strategy game for Nintendo Switch, released on December 8, 2022. Developed and published by Deck 13, it takes place in Valandis, a land shaped by a long conflict among three kingdoms.

A fragile peace is threatened when an ancient weapon emerges. A group of heroes with different histories and goals becomes caught in events involving political struggles, old prophecies, forgotten technology, and the possibility of lasting peace.

Strategic turn-based battles

Combat uses turn-based encounters built around party abilities, enemy weaknesses, timing, and skill combinations. The Overdrive system asks players to manage a combat meter: staying in its favorable range supports stronger offense and defense, while overheating brings penalties. Enemies are visible in the world, so battles do not begin through random encounters.

Build a flexible party

Characters can be developed through skills, equipment, and grimoire shards that provide passive abilities and stat benefits. Players can experiment with party setups and adjust builds for different challenges. Crafting materials and upgrades can also be used to improve gear and prepare for tougher opponents.

Explore Valandis

Valandis includes pixel-art landscapes, dungeons, hidden routes, treasures, side quests, and optional foes. Exploration can reveal useful resources and new locations beyond the main path. In selected areas, Sky Armors—large mech suits—offer distinct combat situations and traversal options.
