Children of Morta follows the Bergson family, longtime guardians of Mount Morta. When the Corruption begins to poison the land and transform its creatures, the family faces an ancient threat that reaches far beyond a single battle.

Released for Nintendo Switch on November 20, 2019, this action role-playing game from Dead Mage combines a family-centered narrative with repeatable dungeon expeditions. Its campaign explores the characters' struggles, relationships, and determination as they fight to protect their home.

The Bergson family

Each playable member of the Bergson family brings individual abilities, combat approaches, and skill trees. Choosing between them is important when confronting different foes and hazards, while the family home serves as the central place for development between adventures.

Roguelite action

Dungeon runs take place in procedurally generated areas with changing layouts, enemy placements, loot, and challenges. Players battle corrupted creatures and bosses through fast-paced hack-and-slash combat, using movement and dodging to stay clear of danger.

Progression and exploration

Growth carries across the campaign through persistent improvements made at the Bergson home, helping the entire family become stronger over time. Dungeons also contain lore, environmental details, hidden areas, temporary boosts, relics, runes, and divine graces to discover during a run.

Cooperative play

Children of Morta includes local cooperative play, allowing two players to confront the Corruption together while making use of the family's different fighting styles.
