04 About Chocobo GP

Chocobo GP is a racing and party game from Square Enix, released for Nintendo Switch on March 10, 2022. It brings Chocobo, Shirma, and other Final Fantasy characters to a colorful kart-racing competition.

The adventure begins when the mysterious Hydros announces a tournament whose winner may have any wish granted. The racers enter for their own reasons, traveling through fantastical courses as rivalries, friendships, and comic moments shape the contest.

Racing with Magicite

Races combine approachable kart controls with drifting, speed boosts, character skills, and Magicite collected on the course. Magicite crystals provide spells that can attack opponents, offer protection, or otherwise alter a race. Holding and stacking Magicite can increase its effects, making timing an important part of each event.

Characters and courses

Each racer has individual statistics and a signature ability. Chocobo can use Chocobo Dash, while Shirma has Barrier. Courses draw inspiration from Final Fantasy settings and include differing layouts, shortcuts, and hazards, encouraging players to learn turns and choose the right moments to use their abilities.

Ways to race

Chocobo GP includes a story campaign, custom races, local competition, and online multiplayer. Progression unlocks additional characters, kart skins, and other customization options, letting players change the look of their racing experience.
