Cooking Mama: Cookstar

04 About Cooking Mama: Cookstar

Cooking Mama returns to the kitchen in Cooking Mama: Cookstar, a recipe-focused puzzle game released for Nintendo Switch on March 31, 2020. Players work through cooking tasks as an aspiring chef under Mama's guidance.

Recipes are divided into short challenges built around preparation and cooking techniques. Slice ingredients, stir, fry, bake, boil, and complete each step with careful timing to improve the finished dish.

Recipes and cooking challenges

Cookstar includes more than 80 recipes, with each one made up of multiple mini-games. Performance is scored through timing and accuracy, and successful dishes can open additional recipes and variations. Replaying a recipe gives players a chance to refine individual actions and pursue stronger results.

Choose your controls

Cooking actions can be handled with Joy-Con motion controls or traditional button inputs. Motion controls let players mimic actions such as chopping and flipping, while button controls offer an alternate way to approach the same kitchen tasks.

Cookstar Mode and party play

Alongside its recipe progression, the game includes Cookstar Mode for a more demanding cooking challenge. Party games also provide cooking competitions for players who want to take part with friends.

Release details

Cooking Mama: Cookstar was developed and published by Planet Entertainment. It supports English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Russian, and is available as a region-free Nintendo Switch release.
