Damascus Gear Operation Tokyo is an action role-playing game from Arc System Works, released for Nintendo Switch in March 2018. Set in 2097, it places Tokyo in the path of the Rage, a mysterious force that has devastated cities around the world.

As a member of a specialist mech unit, the player fights the invasion with machines known as Gears. Missions gradually reveal more about the enemy, the unit’s purpose, and the larger crisis facing humanity.

Mech combat missions

The game uses a mission-based structure across Tokyo districts, with objectives ranging from direct engagements to defending important locations. Battles are fast-paced and demand positioning, movement, and attention to opposing attack patterns.

Build a personalized Gear

Gears can be fitted with interchangeable heads, cores, arms, and legs, changing both their appearance and statistics. Ranged and melee weapons offer different attack styles, while collected scrap, materials, parts, and blueprints support crafting and upgrades.

Pilot progression

As the pilot gains levels, new skills and abilities become available. Gear preparation is an important part of each operation, with equipment choices helping address particular enemy types, weapon weaknesses, defenses, and energy demands.
