Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is an action-adventure game for Nintendo Switch, published by THQ Nordic and developed by Kaiko. Released on April 02, 2019, it follows War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

When the End War begins before its appointed time, War is blamed for triggering the clash between Heaven and Hell. Stripped of his power and returned to Earth, he must uncover the deception behind the conflict and seek to restore balance before humanity is lost.

A ruined world to investigate

War travels through a post-apocalyptic Earth occupied by demons and angels. The journey includes large interconnected locations, hidden items, environmental obstacles, unusual characters, and encounters that gradually reveal the cause of the premature war.

Combat, abilities, and weapons

The game combines hack-and-slash battles with magical Wrath abilities. War gains weapons and powers during the adventure, including tools such as the Abyssal Chain and Tremor Gauntlet, which can serve both combat and puzzle-solving purposes. Players can also use armor sets, artifacts, secondary weapons, blocking, dodging, and attacks suited to groups or stronger foes.

Exploration and challenges

Environmental puzzles and platforming are central to progression through dungeons and new areas. Ruin, War's steed, helps with travel across expansive landscapes and can also take part in combat. Boss battles demand attention to enemy behavior, while chests, destructible objects, collectibles, upgrades, and Lifestone Shards reward thorough exploration.
