Death or Treat is a Nintendo Switch action, adventure, and platformer game released on July 12, 2023. It follows Hack, the ghostly founder of Ghost Mart, whose Halloween treat business is threatened by Monocorp and its bland mass-produced sweets.

To preserve Halloween’s traditions, Hack travels through dangerous haunted districts inhabited by grotesque enemies and powerful bosses. The journey also reveals secrets surrounding Monocorp and its motives.

Roguelite combat

The game uses fast-paced hack-and-slash action built around repeated runs through procedurally generated areas. Enemy encounters demand careful timing, dodging, and weapon choices as challenges become more difficult.

Weapons, crafting, and progression

During runs, players can find weapon upgrades, magical abilities, crafting ingredients, and loot. Ghost Mart serves as a place to craft equipment and unlock permanent improvements that strengthen Hack for later attempts.

Haunted exploration

Hand-painted 2D environments combine Halloween imagery with exploration. Hidden paths, secret rooms, lore, and useful resources reward players who search each area beyond its main combat encounters.
