Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind is a Nintendo-developed mystery game for Nintendo Switch, released on May 14, 2021. This remastered entry centers on a young detective assigned to a troubling case involving the death of a high school girl.

The investigation leads to Ushimitsu High School, where rumors persist of a spectral figure known as the Girl Who Stands Behind. As the case develops, the recent death, the school’s tragic history, and the unsettling legend appear increasingly connected.

A school-bound mystery

The story combines a murder investigation with supernatural rumors. Players meet characters who may hold secrets or motives, follow leads through the school and other locations, and uncover information surrounding both the victim and the ghostly tale.

Command-based investigation

Progression uses a classic command menu. Actions such as Talk, Examine, Show, and Think let players question witnesses, inspect scenes, present items, and consider gathered information. Careful observation and repeated interactions can reveal further dialogue or clues.

Following the evidence

New discoveries can open additional conversations and places to investigate. Reviewing dialogue, revisiting characters after major developments, and checking the detective’s notebook help keep track of clues and objectives as the mystery unfolds.

Updated presentation

The remaster features updated character sprites and backgrounds while retaining its investigative adventure structure. Its visual presentation supports the suspenseful setting and the gradual process of piecing together the case.
