FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster combines two connected role-playing adventures from Square Enix. Released for Nintendo Switch on April 16, 2019, the collection follows separate journeys across the world of Spira.

The first game centers on Tidus, a blitzball player drawn into Spira, and Yuna, a summoner undertaking a pilgrimage against the destructive Sin. FINAL FANTASY X-2 continues two years later as Yuna becomes a sphere hunter alongside Rikku and Paine.

Two journeys in Spira

FINAL FANTASY X explores Tidus and Yuna's journey through danger, sacrifice, faith, and tradition as they travel with a group of companions. Its sequel shifts focus to a recovering Spira, where Yuna searches for answers connected to a mysterious sphere and encounters new threats to the world's future.

Battle systems

The two titles use different combat approaches. FINAL FANTASY X uses the Conditional Turn-Based Battle system, giving players time to consider each move and swap party members during encounters. FINAL FANTASY X-2 uses Active Time Battle combat, creating a faster-paced style of fighting.

Character development

In FINAL FANTASY X, the Sphere Grid allows characters to develop abilities and statistics through extensive customization. FINAL FANTASY X-2 introduces Dresspheres and Garment Grids, letting the party change job classes during battle for different abilities and tactical options.

Exploration and activities

Spira includes forests, ruins, hidden items, lore, and side activities. Players can take part in challenges such as blitzball and monster arena battles while exploring the setting across both adventures.
