Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition

04 About Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition is an action-adventure game from IllFonic, released for Nintendo Switch on October 19, 2023. It places new recruits in a growing paranormal crisis as the original Ghostbusters establish new franchises to confront outbreaks of supernatural activity.

The conflict centers on R.B., a mischievous ghost whose chaos affects haunted sites throughout the game. Players can join the effort to investigate and contain spirits as a Ghostbuster, or take the opposing role as a Ghost seeking to overwhelm each location with hauntings.

Four Ghostbusters Against One Ghost

Matches use an asymmetric 4v1 format: four Ghostbusters cooperate to locate, weaken, and trap one player-controlled Ghost. Ghostbusters use equipment including the Proton Pack, PKE Meter, and Ghost Trap, while the Ghost relies on possession, minions, slime, and other spectral powers to escape capture and build the haunting level.

Haunted Locations and Progression

Hauntings unfold across locations such as museums and prisons, each with different layouts and interactive elements. Ghostbusters can track the Ghost and search for rifts, while Ghosts can hide in objects or among civilians. Experience earned through play unlocks gear, ghost types, cosmetics, and ability upgrades.

Ecto Edition Content

The Ecto Edition includes previously released content and DLC from the start. It also offers cosmetic customization for Ghostbusters and ghosts, giving players options to personalize their chosen side. The game supports English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese.
