Have A Nice Death is a 2D roguelike action platformer set inside Death Inc., an enormous corporate underworld run by Death himself. When the company’s department heads, known as the Sorrows, stop following the rules, the resulting chaos leaves Death to take matters into his own hands.

Released for Nintendo Switch on March 22, 2023, this single-player adventure combines fast combat, corporate satire, and a stylized dark-humor presentation. It supports TV, Tabletop, and Handheld play modes, with text options including English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish.

A company in chaos

As CEO of Death Inc., Death is responsible for keeping the flow of souls under control. His overworked Sorrows have gone rogue, disrupting the business and creating an overwhelming mess of paperwork. To restore order—and finally take a vacation—he must confront the rebellious leaders across the company’s departments.

Fast roguelike combat

Runs take place through procedurally generated office areas filled with enemies, hazards, mini-bosses, hidden routes, and secrets. Death can dash, dodge, and attack with melee or ranged weapons, while mana powers spells and special abilities. Learning enemy patterns and choosing when to reposition are important parts of surviving each encounter.

Build for the next run

Weapons, spells, upgrades, currencies, and curses let players shape their approach as they progress. Persistent improvements can strengthen Death for later attempts, while choices made during a run can create different combinations of combat tools and abilities. Each department culminates in a battle against a powerful Sorrow.
