Set in 11945 AD, NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition follows humanity's fight to reclaim Earth after mechanical lifeforms force its survivors to the moon. YoRHa androids are sent to the planet's surface, with combat unit 2B and scanner unit 9S assigned to confront the machine threat.

Their mission develops into a story concerned with existence, purpose, conflict, and what it means to be human. Other androids, including A2, bring further perspectives to the struggle.

Combat and exploration

The game combines rapid melee combat with ranged support from a Pod unit. Players can use weapon classes such as swords, spears, and bracers, evade attacks, and employ Pod programs during battles. Exploration takes place across desolate environments containing side quests, hidden items, materials, and fishing opportunities.

Changing play styles

NieR:Automata shifts between several gameplay formats, including third-person action, twin-stick shooting, bullet-hell encounters, and 2D platforming sequences. As progress is made, fast travel becomes available, while multiple playthroughs reveal additional viewpoints and endings.

Android customization

Weapons and installable chips allow players to adjust android abilities and stats for different combat approaches. The End of YoRHa Edition also includes the 3C3C1D119440927 DLC, which adds further challenges and narrative material.
