Overcooked: Special Edition is a Nintendo Switch party game from Team 17, released on July 26, 2017. Built around fast-paced cooperative cooking, it asks players to organize a kitchen, prepare orders, and serve dishes before time expires.

The adventure takes place in the Onion Kingdom, where a ravenous creature called the Everpeckish threatens the world. Chefs travel through a series of unusual kitchens to improve their skills and ultimately create meals capable of stopping the beast.

Cooperative kitchen work

Up to four players can share kitchen duties as they chop ingredients, cook food, assemble recipes, wash plates, and deliver completed orders. Success depends on keeping tasks moving and reacting quickly when the workspace becomes crowded or disrupted.

Changing kitchens and recipes

Each level introduces a different kitchen layout and new obstacles. Cooking may take place on a pirate ship, a city street, or an ice floe, with shifting spaces and hazards that make movement and coordination more difficult. Recipes range from simple salads to sushi and pizza.

Planning under pressure

Orders arrive against the clock, requiring players to decide who will prepare ingredients, handle cooking, wash dishes, or serve meals. Clear communication and flexible roles help prevent delays, especially as orders and kitchen mechanics become more demanding.
