Risen is an action, adventure, and role-playing game from THQ Nordic, released for Nintendo Switch on January 24, 2023. It takes place on Faranga, a volcanic island filled with ancient mysteries, dangerous ruins, and creatures emerging from the shadows of its past.

After surviving a shipwreck, the protagonist becomes caught in the island's struggle against a growing threat linked to the dark titans. Faranga is divided between competing factions, including the Inquisitors and the Don's bandits, and the path through its conflict is influenced by player decisions.

Combat and character development

Risen uses challenging real-time combat and lets players develop their character through different disciplines. Weapon styles, magic, stealth, crafting, potion brewing, armor improvements, and spell scrolls provide several ways to approach encounters.

Factions and choices

Conversations with characters can reveal quests and information, while dialogue decisions affect reputation and access to new opportunities. Choosing a faction changes the available quests and skills, making alliances an important part of determining Faranga's future.
