River City Saga Three Kingdoms Next is an action-adventure game for Nintendo Switch from ARC SYSTEM WORKS. It reworks the Three Kingdoms tale through the distinctive style of the River City cast, placing Kunio in the role of Guan Yu as war and rival factions divide the land.

The adventure follows Kunio and his allies across a pixel-art version of ancient China. Familiar historical events are presented with comedic dialogue and River City characters, while the group pursues peace through battles against regional warlords.

Brawling and progression

Combat uses fast-paced, side-scrolling beat 'em up action built around punches, kicks, special techniques, and character-specific fighting styles. Experience and currency earned during the journey can be used to improve stats and gain stronger abilities, adding RPG-style development to the action.

Exploration and quests

Players travel through scrolling areas containing hidden routes, items, equipment, and optional tasks. Main objectives move the Three Kingdoms-inspired story forward, while side quests and discoveries offer additional reasons to explore each region.

Allies in battle
