SAMURAI SHODOWN brings SNK's weapon-focused fighting series to Nintendo Switch. Set in Japan's Tenmei era in 1787, the game follows warriors from different regions as they confront the threat posed by Shizuka Gozen, whose power draws on the souls of fallen fighters.

Combat centers on tense one-on-one encounters in which positioning, timing, and reading an opponent matter more than lengthy combos. A single heavy strike or well-chosen counter can quickly alter the course of a match.

Measured weapon duels

Each fighter uses distinct weapons and abilities, encouraging players to learn their range, damage potential, and individual style. Careful attacks, defense, and punishing missed swings are central to gaining an advantage. Blocking and countering can create openings for decisive follow-up strikes.

Battle-changing techniques

The Rage Gauge builds through damage taken or blocked, allowing access to Rage Explosions and other powerful options. Players can attempt a Lightning Blade for major damage, use Weapon Flipping Techniques to disarm an opponent, or break guards to expose them. Every character also has a Super Special Move that can be used once per match.

Dojo Mode

Dojo Mode lets players face AI ghost data based on other players from around the world. These matches offer another way to observe different approaches and practice against varied fighting styles.

Developed and published by SNK Corporation, SAMURAI SHODOWN released on December 12, 2019. It supports English, Japanese, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Taiwanese, and Chinese language options.
