Scribblenauts Showdown brings the series' object-creation mechanic to a game show-inspired party format. Players enter words to summon items, then use their creations to tackle puzzles, challenges and competitive events.

The Nintendo Switch release supports solo play and local multiplayer for up to four players. Its events combine quick reactions with inventive vocabulary, encouraging players to find unusual solutions to each challenge.

Word-powered challenges

Created objects are central to every round. Players can enter nouns and adjectives to produce items with different qualities, such as changing an object into something fluffy, tiny or fiery. The game’s dictionary-driven system lets creativity shape approaches to its puzzles and mini-games.

Wordy and Speedy mini-games

The game includes dozens of mini-games divided into Wordy and Speedy categories. Wordy events emphasize imaginative choices and problem-solving, while Speedy challenges focus more on rapid thinking and action. Both types reward players who can react effectively to changing objectives.

Showdown and Versus play

Showdown mode presents the competition in a strategic board-game style, while Versus mode keeps the focus on consecutive mini-games. Players can compete for points across the game’s events, either challenging others locally or playing on their own.

Maxwell and Lily customization

Maxwell and Lily can be personalized with unlockable costumes and accessories. These customization options accompany the game’s playful competitive setting and give players a way to alter their chosen character’s appearance.
